Whangarei Marina at Town Basin is located
Quayside, which is next to the town's central business district. Step
off your boat and find a great cup of coffee or cool beer at one of the
many quayside restaurants and cafes. Stroll across the street to the
swimming baths and gym. Take a longer walk along one of many
picturesque, native forest trails. Just a block or so away in the central business district are shops, a movie theatre, medical and dental services, internet cafes and much more. A large, low price supermarket is within easy walking distance. Since the marina is so close to town, many cruisers don't own cars. If you decide to do some traveling around New Zealand, inexpensive cars can be purchased through several local car auctions. Whangarei has a well established boat service industry. You will find the expertise, experience and supplies to look after your boat. Contact Brian Caulton or Sharron Petersson for information about the dockside, slips or pilings they have to offer. The marina has a laundry, showers, bathrooms, TV lounge and playground. Wireless internet is available on your boat. Pump out facilities for those staying in Whangarei Marina are located at Riverside Drive Marina which is about 500 meters down stream. |
