Mapping Whangārei’s Marine Industry
First unveiled at the 2024 Whangārei Maritime Festival, this interactive map is the result of a volunteer-driven project initiated by the Black Ball Yacht Club. Aimed at showcasing the depth and potential of the region’s marine sector, the project highlights local goods and services, career pathways, and investment opportunities. By compiling and presenting this information, the initiative helps bridge a longstanding gap in publicly available data, supporting efforts to grow and strengthen Whangārei’s marine economy

Click play on the map to activate it. Zoom in and pan around to navigate. Click on the highlighted businesses/organisations to view their survey response, a summary of the business/organisation, and their contact details.
About the Map
This map was made using a combination of data sources. It was made using publicly available information from the survey conducted in 2024, the social media pages and websites of the respective businesses/organisations, addresses available on google maps, and property boundaries from Linz property data (NZ-Parcels).
