The Whangārei marine sector will be represented internationally this month, with Sharron Beck, from Whangārei Marinas travelling to the Panama Canal to promote Whangārei Harbour to visiting cruising yachts.

During the trip, she will be visiting several marinas near the canal – one of the world’s busiest gateways for international cruising vessels – to connect with yacht owners preparing to cross the Pacific. The visit coincides with meeting the new coordinator of the Pacific Puddle Jump from Tahiti, the well-known annual rally that sees hundreds of yachts depart the Americas for the South Pacific each season.

Promoting Whangārei directly to cruising yachts at this stage of their journey is a great opportunity,” says Sharron Beck. “Many of these vessels will be planning their Pacific routes, so it’s the perfect time to highlight the beauty of New Zealand, the safe harbour we offer, and the excellent marine services available in Whangārei.

The trip aims to encourage more international yachts to make the journey south and experience Whangārei as a destination for refit, maintenance and cruising.
